Regatas beat Instituto and breathe

The transcendental meeting took place from 9:30 p.m., at the “José Jorge Contte” stadium, Fernando Calvi’s team was obliged to win, complied and now forced a fourth match that will be played again on Monday in the Miter Park redoubt .

The Institute knows that in the worst case, the fifth tiebreaker match would be played at the “Ángel Sandrín” stadium next Thursday, unlike the Reclassification series against Riachuelo, in which they also lost as a visitor and were left with no margin of error, this situation is more complex for Regatas, considering that Instituto was one of the most regular in the tournament: this season since it was champion of the Super 20 and has a long squad, with high-ranking replacements in all positions.

La Gloria leads the tie 2-1 and is still one step away from reaching the semifinals, but will have to wait until Monday, when they meet again at the José Jorge Conte, for the fourth game.

The referees had a lot of work and whistled several unsportsmanlike and technical ones (Nicolas Romano and DT Lucas Victoriano were out).

FIRST QUARTER

The first quarter was very even and ended tied at 21. The Cordoba team started better, but the local team equalized with the leadership of “Penka” Aguirre and the push of his people equalized the actions. Scoring distributed in the first segment.

SECOND BEDROOM

The second set showed the best of the Regatta series, which had Giordano off the bench, first, and the appearance of Piñero, who led the Rower’s attack. Instituto was very fought with the hoop and gave ground on the scoreboard. The homeowner did not waste it and went into the long break 53-41. Regatas scored 32 points in this quarter, which showed that the red-and-white defense was in debt.

THIRD QUARTER

The game got very rough and choppy. Nicolás Romano was expelled for two unsportsmanlike fouls. There were several failures, including unsportsmanlike and technical to players and coach of the visit, which were much discussed by the white and red against the referees.

That led to Piñero and McGhee scoring frequently from the line and esp was key for the Ghost to go to the last halftime 78-67.

LAST ROOM

The triples of Giordano and Aguirre saved the Rower, who stayed with the victory. At the end, more red-and-white protests for charges that there were not from the referees (in one about Copello, in another about Gallizzi) and for a second technical foul in which DT Victoriano was expelled.

On Monday, at 9:30 p.m., the fourth point of the series, with Regatas again forced to win to stay alive. Institute follows a triumph of the pass to the semifinals.
