Provincial fell to the pointer and was third

The red team defeated Regatas de San Nicolás 91-82 and will play against Atalaya for reclassification next Saturday.

Provincial started straight with the rim, with a shared scoring game and in just five minutes they were up 20-8. Regatas wanted to bet on the inside game but they were always controlled by Gustavo Lalima’s inmates. The visit was to a zonal defense where Guido Mariani played with more space and opened the ball for Pablo Fernández to hurt from three points, closing the quarter 31-16.

At the beginning of the second period, the face of Regatas was different, which in two and a half minutes scored a 9-0 run with shots from Rodrigo Noguera and Santiago López, forcing Gustavo Lalima to ask for a minute. Federico Pérez with a double cut the drought of points in the Red and then came two bombs from Franco D’Angelo and Matías Rosas to return the two-digit advantage (39-28). The mischief of Valentín Ingrata narrowed the difference to seven (43-36) before halftime.

After the break, the visit continued in zonal defense, but Provincial found a way around it scoring two baskets with ease and Pablo Dastugue returned to man, something that gave him results. In attack, Valentin Ingrata and Sebastián Mena did their thing to put Regatas within one possession (48-46). At the worst moment for Rojo, Pablo Fernández appeared with his hierarchy to put in a 10-3 sprint forcing Pablo Dastugue to stop the game. But when leaving the minute, a double by Tomás Gómez raised the local public and that was the emotional boost that led them to conclude the third episode 68-55.

In the last quarter, Regatas scored a burst of four points but Tomás Gómez appeared at the premises to score a triple and assist, giving his team a twelve-point lead (74-62). Provincial began to seek as an ally the desperation of his rival who did not lower his arms and in the blink of an eye he approached five (79-74). Pablo Fernández entered and in the first situation he hit a triple. By that time it was already known about Gimnasia’s victory over Sportsmen that made it impossible for Provincial to jump to second place. In the game it got stuck, but again Pablo Fernández scored a double with 1:27 to go, leaving Rojo nine up (86-77). The final foamed up quickly and it was a 91-82 victory for the host.
