Gautier Desprez, a member of the Judo Club Pollestres since his childhood, recently passed the national judo referee exam.
The young man, 2nd dan black belt, experienced a meteoric rise in the field of arbitration. Departmental referee in 2016, regional in 2018, interregional in 2020 and now national referee in 2022. An extraordinary performance at only 20 years old! Trained in this exercise by his father and teacher, himself a former national referee, Gautier had already distinguished himself by winning the departmental and regional young referee cups in the youngest and minimal categories.
He thus becomes the 3rd national referee of the club after Nicolas Desprez and Benjamin Mercier, the latter being currently ranked among the best French referees and departmental referee trainer.
The Judo club Pollestres thus demonstrates that in this area, it is unquestionably one of the flagship clubs of the Pyrénées-Orientales.
