Plérin: a 14th black belt on the tatami of Epam judo – Plérin

Eight years after her debut in the judo section of the Plérinaise school of martial arts, Iwen Berta-Perrot was able to wear her black kimono this Tuesday evening at the Robert-Moy dojo. A belt that she began to embroider, at least in her mind upset by the pandemic, as soon as she obtained the brown belt, before the first confinement. “I was able to really start working on the katas last October, for validation in the exam at the end of November. On May 1, I only needed twenty points in combat, which I took at Mûr-de Bretagne, during the departmental championship, ”recalls the young girl, aged 16.

“Now that’s just a bonus”

The one who practices in parallel the multisport raid sees in this first dan “a culmination, but also the beginning of something else”. What ? “Having fun on the tatami. The black belt, I wanted it. Now that’s just a bonus; I will probably be less serious. Which doesn’t mean I won’t be aiming for 2nd dan one day. And thus join the group of four judokas already wearing it, alongside the four 4th and 5th dan. That is fourteen black girdles, out of 58 judokas.
