Pedagogical week around cycling and science / News

The experimentation of the transplanted classes

For several years, the City of Lille has been developing classes transplanted to school time for Lille students. These pedagogical weeks outside the walls » are usually organized with an overnight stay, in the mountains, by the sea or Phalempin Forest for example. For the 2021-2022 school year, 78 classes are concerned and 1,522 children participate in these stays spread over 6 different locations.

The transplanted class Bike and Nature

The City of Lille accompanies children on their daily journeys before and after school, and during school outings by allowing them to leave scooters and bicycles behind! 100% of Lille schools are equipped with a suitable scooter rack and/or bicycle rack.
With the fleet of bicycles, the sports educators of the City of Lille develop the practice of cycling with teachers during school time. Bike workshops for children aged 6 to 12 are also organized on Wednesdays.
To go further in this support, the City of Lille has chosen to develop classes outside the walls.

This year, CE1 and CM2 students learned about cycling during a week of workshops, supervised by sports leaders on the Marx Dormoy site. 340 children learn to ride a bicycle, to handle it, to respect road safety, to inflate its tires… The children can also go canoeing, biathlon or even archery.

We go further! The transplanted Science class in the spring of 2022

The transplanted Science class is co-constructed as a course in the city and its surroundings with the participation of associations from the scientific world, a scientific facilitator from the Natural History Museum and National Education. This week should allow children to develop a scientific culture necessary to understand the world around them, as well as a critical mind through a methodology: observe, wonder, manipulate/experiment, reason, deduce. The program is designed as a scientific journey through the city, punctuated by encounters with entomologists, naturalists, researchers and laboratory technicians.

During this science discovery week, the children tackle several subjects such as biology, physics, chemistry, ecology, health, the environment and geology.
