Ultra-decisive in the last game of the series against the Mavs, Klay Thompson took the opportunity to seize an all-time record in the playoffs alone. He notably leaves behind his teammate Stephen Curry, who had never managed to achieve such a performance!
If Stephen Curry was elected MVP of the Western Conference Finals, it was Klay Thompson who was the big man in Game 5 won against Dallas (120-110, summary here). The back of Golden State literally flew over the meeting, allowing himself to return to human torch mode in order to qualify his people for the NBA Finals. Result, the triple champion offered us a masterclass in scoring, with in particular a superb skill (48% shooting, 50% from a distance):

This is clearly his best performance on this post-season campaign, and perhaps even his 2021-22 financial year if we take into account what is at stake. The Texans could not do anything to stop him, who was literally in the zone for his 37 minutes of play. And as often with KT, such a state of unconsciousness is synonymous with historic prowess, since he now holds only a very high flying record behind the arc:

Even his double MVP teammate hadn’t managed to let go of such madness until now! Something to remind us that the No. 11 is one of the best snipers on the circuit, when he missed two and a half years of competition.
Returning to action last January, he’s been through some ups and downs since then, but he appears to have returned to his best at the perfect time for the Warriors. The Splash Brothers are in good shape and will be able to enjoy a few days of rest, the time that the series between the Heat and the Celtics comes to an end. Whatever the outcome, the winner will have a hard time facing the men of the Bay, who are ready to fight and subdue the opposition, Killa Klay the first.
Klay Thompson dropped a historic feat against the Mavs, and Golden State can only rejoice. After years of struggling to come back, the fullback is showing he can still shine and that’s great news for any NBA fan.
