Olympian on the Rabenberg – LEIPZIGER SPORTLÖWEN eV

The bronze medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games, Annett Böhm, was a guest at the Rabenberg Judo Festival. The 42-year-old sports lion headed a U13 judo unit with state coach Frederick Jäde. All those placed at the state championships were invited to this course, including five athletes from the Leipzig Sports Lions.

“It was incredibly fun to be back on the mat and pass on my knowledge to the next generation. These talented kids are the sporting future and it was a pleasure to see them trying out the new techniques. Some children also amazed me in terms of gymnastics. Frederick [Jäde] has a great team. I am also pleased that five judoka from our club were there.”

A varied and strenuous program was on the training schedule for Anna Reitmann, Hannes Vossler, Emil Tischler, Alba Koch and Kira Nöller. It was the first course for the U13 since the Corona pandemic and also the first time in the Rabenberg sports park.

For Hannes Vossler it was also the first training camp with the national selection.

“The time on the Rabenberg was a lot of fun and very varied. I found it particularly cool that we practiced and honed a technique intensively. We simulated various situations and then tried to apply this technique. The team competition on the first day is also memorable.”

Away from the tatami, there was another important event. The Judo Association of Saxony founded the “Friends and Sponsors of Saxon Judo Sport” association. This should support judo in Saxony in the future. Annett Böhm will take over the patronage of the newly founded association.

“When JVS President Frank Nitzel and Treasurer Lutz Pitsch asked me, I immediately said yes. A support association simply has many more opportunities to raise funds and donations than the association. I am very happy to support the project as I know it will benefit the sport of judo and encourage young talent.”
