On Monday, the 64 teams were divided into 16 teams into four teams and the brackets were announced. The winners will advance to the top three Super Regions, with the eight Regional Super Champions advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Georgia Southern is ranked 16th. The winner from the Statesborough region will play Tennessee (53-7), the No. 1 overall winner from the Knoxville region.
Tech has been a regional sponsor for the last five NCAA tournaments. It last started at Red Riders Road in Miami in 2014, and they formed the College World Series for the first time that year. Tech missed out on the tournament in 2015 and the post-2020 season was canceled due to the government blowup.
The Red Riders finished 15-9 in the Big 12, trailing by one second and one game.
Tech posted a three-game sweep of Oklahoma State in mid-May, but then lost four of six games.
Notre Dame Ace John Michael Bertrand, 8-2 with a 2.39 career average, is the first team in the Atlantic Coast Conference for the second year in a row. Austin Temple (4-1, 3.19, two serves) is second on staff in entry and leadoff pitches.
Irish outfielder Ryan Cole is the third team honored by the ACC. He is batting .303 with nine home runs, 31 runs and 19 stolen bases. The team’s leading hitter overall, the goaltender sat out the first two games of the ACC tournament and then was designated hitter in game three.
The other great hitters for the Irish are first pacer Carter Butts (.350-6-42), corner outfielders Jack Jisca (.297-10-32) and Brooks Cotsy (.286-11-42) and the third pacemaker Jack Brongen (.289-).9-41).
Notre Dame went 16-11 in the Atlantic Beach Conference. Fighting Irish won the three-game series from Florida State, Clemson and Wake Forest and won two games in the three-game series that had one game canceled due to weather.
Notre Dame won two-thirds of Boston College and Pittsburgh. The Fighting Irish won the three-game series from Louisville and Duke and lost two-thirds of their final regular-season series to regional host Miami.
