No French at the PGA Championship, a first since 2013

This Thursday starts the second major of the season, the PGA Championship. If the majority of the best players in the world are present, no tricolor has managed to win its qualification for the first time in 9 years.

It will not have escaped you, as in Masters last month, no Habs were present at the start of the 2nd major of the season on the course of the Southern Hills CC located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And this is a first since 2013!

Indeed, at least one representative of French golf has planted the tee at the start of this tournament exclusively reserved for professionals during the last eight editions.

They were even three in 2020 (Victor Perez (22e), Mike Lorenzo-Vera (43e), Benjamin Hebert (cut) au TPC Harding Park of San Francisco). Like 16 years earlier in 2004 at Whistling Straits during the victory of the Fijian Vijay Singh.

Last year, Victor Perez was accompanied byAntoine Rozner and the two tricolors had unfortunately remained at the quay after two laps at Kiawah Island (Caroline from the south).

The first 118

For this 104th edition, the PGA of America went so far as to summon the 118th player in the world to compensate for the packages and finalize his field of 156 players. First Frenchman in the world ranking (152nd), Julien Brun will therefore not take part in his first major tournament this week.

Several players from the world’s top 115 are also missing: Sungjae Im (20e), Paul Casey (23e), Harris English (26e), Phil Mickelson (60e), imahira juice (109e), Adrian Meronk (110th) and Kazuki Higa (114e).
