Veteran Sony running back Michel intends to sign with the Miami Dolphins, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports.

Michel will join a crowded backfield in the Miami offense under coach Mike McDaniel. Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds signed earlier in the season, joining Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed.

Michel, who turned 27 in February, went for 845 yards and scored five touchdowns with the defending Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams acquired him from the New England Patriots last August in exchange for fifth- and sixth-round picks in the 2022 draft. He filled a major need for the team after Cam Akers tore his tendon of Achilles before training camp.

Michel played sparingly until becoming a starter in December following an injury to Darrell Henderson Jr.

The Patriots selected Michel with the 31st pick of the 2018 draft from Georgia.

In three seasons with the Patriots, he rushed for 3,137 yards and scored 18 touchdowns.
