The Varese Academy Basketball overcomes the Umana Reyer Venezia and gains access to the Final Four which will play at home at the Enerxenia Arena. The red and white have a better start with an excellent Zhao (15 points and 5 rebounds) and the present Dog under the basket (12-7). Venezia clings to the center Vanin (20 points and 6 rebounds) and to the penetrations of Minincleri (6 points) but Cavallero’s dribbles and shoots (10 points and 6 rebounds) and Zhao’s free throws lead the Basketball Academy 6 lengths ahead.
At the end of the first period, the playmaker from Varese still runs in transition and updates the maximum Lombard advantage up to double figures (22-12 after 10 ‘). In the second period, Umana Reyer immediately shortens the distances on the counterattack thanks to Ballarin and Iannuzzi up to -3 but Marchiao (7 points and 5 rebounds) and Mazzotti (10 points) relaunch the Varese extension in penetration. With Guimdo (11 points and 16 rebounds) then Varese returns to have a margin greater than ten points (32-21). At the end of the time, Grani (6 points and 7 rebounds) and Vanin make themselves feel energetic under the Varese basket but the usual Guimdo (7 points and 9 rebounds) does not allow any kind of rapprochement (38-28 after 20 ‘).
The second half begins with Barbero and an important bomb from Iannuzzi (14 points and 5 rebounds) but Venice never really manages to make up for it because Zhao, Villa and Guimdo assert themselves under the basket, updating the maximum advantage to 48-35. Touched at -15, Chapelli (9 points and 5 assists) and Minincleri load the orogranata on their shoulders but Mazzotti (10 points) pushes them back with his long shots (57-43 after 30 ‘). In the last 10 ‘of the game the percentages from the field are lowered and Chapelli manages to bring Reyer back with a single-digit disadvantage but the combinations between Zhao and Guimdo always keep the Academy comfortably ahead at 66-55. Despite the latest flashes of Iannuzzi and Vanin, Guimdo and Marchiao’s third triple of the day closes the contest. It ends 74-63.
