TO WATER – Pour (red). With Branislav “Frenki” Ignjatovic, the Giessen 46ers have signed an experienced head coach for the next two seasons. Most recently, the 55-year-old worked for the MLP Academics Heidelberg in the basketball Bundesliga and will now start working for the Lahnstadt team who have been relegated to the ProA from June 1st. Ignjatovic has been given a two-year contract with the 46ers, which will be automatically extended for another year should the return to the upper house take place during this period.

“Frenki knows the ProA like no one else. He has shown in his last stations, especially in the last eight years in Heidelberg, how he works. Last season it was crowned with promotion and sovereign relegation. He is a basketball expert, can lead a team excellently, is an absolutely loyal guy and addresses things openly and honestly. We immediately agreed on the philosophy of the game and the types of players associated with it. The restart button was pressed,” becomes Gießen’s managing director Sebastian Schmidt quoted in a club announcement on Friday. “I had several offers, including two from the BBL, on the table, but the talks with Sebastian Schmidt convinced me in particular. I’ve also lived in Hesse for over 30 years and feel like I’m Hesse,” said Ober -Serb Ignjatovic living in Ramstadt.
