NBA mourns Hall of Famer Lanier

The league said so. Lanier, who played for the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks, was inducted into the Hall of Fame after retiring.

“Bob Lanier was a Hall of Famer and one of the most talented centers in NBA history, but his impact on the league stretched far beyond what he did on the field,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver . Lanier served as a post-retirement NBA ambassador and chaired a league-backed initiative that encourages children to stay in school.
