NBA: Jordi Fernndez is closer to being the first Spaniard to be head coach in the NBA: sign for the Kings

Los Sacramento King have announced that the signing of Spanish coach Jordi Fernndez (39 years old) to be his associate head coach.

“Coach Mike Brown makes his first coaching hire, bringing in Jordi Fernndez from the Denver Nuggets as his associate head coach,” the Sacramento Kings announced on their Twitter account.

Mike Brown, a former coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers who is currently on the coaching staff of the Golden State Warriors, will be the new head coach of the Kings.

Jordi Fernndez and Mike Brown already worked together in the Cavaliers in 2009, when the Spanish coach was development coach in the Cleveland franchise.

In the 2014-2016 season, Jordi Fernndez was the head coach of the Canton Charge in the G League, achieving a record of 62-38.

Jordi Fernndez, who was part of the NBA winning Cavaliers coaching staff in 2016, landed his first NBA assistant coaching job with the Denver Nuggets.

After six seasons at the Nuggets, the Catalan coach has taken a big leap in his career by becoming Mike Brown’s associate head coach at the Kings.
