More than 1,000 children compete this weekend in the 19th edition of the Claudio García Basketball Tournament. The event, organized by the Doctor Azua of Zaragozais celebrated in this school, in the Cesáreo Alierta and in the César Augustosince one alone is not enough to host the volume of matches.
All of Doctor Azúa’s teams and another 40 from different parts of Spain, such as Teruel (Anejas, La Salle and Ensanche), participate; Viladecans; Pamplona (Ardoi); or Tarragona.
Total, 86 outfits fill the indoor and outdoor courts of these three venues with color in which, between this Saturday and Sunday, the winners of a tournament that bears the name of the director who promoted that basketball be integrated into the educational program of Doctor Azúa will be decided.
The activity has started this Saturday at 9.00 and will last until 20.00. On Sunday, the scheduled time for the meetings is from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., when the prizes will be awarded in the presence of the General Director of Sports of the Government of Aragon, Javier de Diego, as well as Rodrigo San Miguel, captain of Casademont Zaragoza , that tonight the permanence is played against UCAM Murcia, and former player of the school.
“This quote, above all, aims to extol the value of coexistence. It’s not just a basketball tournament.”explains Carlos Hinojar, coordinator of the Doctor Azúa school, and is grateful that year after year so many teams attend the event.
“For us it is a pleasure to have kids from so many places: Teruel, Viladecans, Tarragona, Pamplona… We are growing edition after edition”, completes Hinojar, and celebrates the great atmosphere that is being experienced in the stands of the three venues mentioned.
