The office of the commissioner of Major League Baseball (MLB) finally revealed that Josh Donaldson received a one-game suspension and was fined an undisclosed amount for off-color comments he made to Tim Anderson during weekend series between Yankees and White Sox.

Donaldson appealed the decision and will be able to continue playing while the final decision is deliberated.

The Yankees third baseman sparked a fight in Saturday’s game after he and catcher Yasmani Grandal clashed at the Pentagon. The discussion would have been provoked after Donaldson greeted Anderson by referring to him as “Jackie.”a reference to the historic Jackie Robinson, who broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball during 1947.

Anderson had already heralded himself as the new Jackie Robinson, however, coming from a white-skinned person, the White Sox shortstop took it as an offense.

“MLB has completed the process of speaking with the individuals involved in this incident. There is no dispute about what was said in the field”, mentions the statement issued by the office. “Regardless of Mr. Donaldson’s intention, the comment he directed towards Mr. Anderson was disrespectful and bad judgmentparticularly when viewed in the context of their previous interactions.”

A week earlier, Donaldson and Anderson had their first altercation in which the Yankees player tried to throw out the White Sox running back on a tight play at third base. TA7 felt that the contact with the glove hand was too forceful, so he responded by pushing it back.
