Every day there are a dozen home runs, per campaign they are counted in thousands, however, what was done by Jesus Sanchez this Monday May 30th in the game between Miami Marlins and Colorado Rockies is simply special because hit the longest home run of the 2022 Season in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Jesús Sánchez hit a slider off Rockies starter Ryan Feltner, an incredible shot that traveled 496 feet and ended up on the third floor of Coors Field, which breaks several records in addition to how majestic it is for the distance it traveled.

Sanchez’s home run is the second longest home run hit by a left-handed batter in Coors Field history and the second longest home run hit in the park by any batter since the implementation of Statcast, trailing only a Giancarlo Stanton bat that traveled 504 feet in the 2016 season.

This was also the third-longest shot Statcast has ever recorded, trailing only Stanton’s 2016 homer and a 505-plus-foot homer hit by Miguel Sanó at Globe Life Park during the 2019 season.

Despite the spectacular hit, Sánchez was not exactly surprised with what had been done, as he assured that in the minor league he hit a 508-foot home run. He still considered it as something special.
