Mapi León, MVP of the final of the Queen’s Cup

PARIS, May 29 (Benin News) –

FC Barcelona defender Mapi León has been named ‘MVP’ of the Copa de la Reina Iberdrola final, as his side were crowned champions after beating Sporting Club de Huelva (6-1) at Municipal de Santo Domingo de Alcorcon.

The president of Iberdrola Energía España, Aitor Moso, presented the player with the trophy for the best player in the final. ” We are very happy. It’s a way to end the year well, winning three out of four possible titles, so we’re very happy,” said the Culé player.

Iberdrola gives its name to the top national competition, the Primera Iberdrola, and to the second division, called Reto Iberdrola. It also promotes the Copa de la Reina and the Supercopa de España. For the second consecutive season, the company also supported Primera Iberdrola’s group of female referees.

Moso reiterated “the firm commitment to continue supporting competitions as important as the Iberdrola Queen’s Cup to continue giving visibility to women’s football”. “The level of national competitions and their followers is increasingly high, which helps to consolidate the new generations,” he said.

The promotion of women’s sport has become an essential lever for Iberdrola and for the promotion of real equality between men and women. In 2016, Iberdrola became the first company to make a firm and comprehensive commitment to women’s equality and empowerment through sport. The company currently supports 32 federations: gymnastics, triathlon, rugby, canoeing, badminton, football, handball, volleyball, hockey, table tennis, athletics, karate, boxing, surfing, ice sports, fencing, underwater activities, bowling, winter sports, weightlifting, judo, Olympic wrestling, mountaineering and climbing, swimming, skating, Basque pelota, rowing, squash, taekwondo, tennis, archery and sailing. It also gives its name to 32 leagues, all top-level, and 100 other competitions.
