Club Brugge did not play the best first half on the Antwerp field. A strong Simon Mignolet can thank that Antwerp only managed to score once via Frey. Mignolet was therefore rightly Man of the Match. “I could certainly help with my saves, but I think I was even more important at half-time.

“I know I played an important role again today,” said Man of the Match Simon Mignolet. “I made a crucial save when it was 1-0. It is true that we were under the market in the first half. With both Frey and Samatta in the striker, we had a lot of balls to deal with in the back. I could certainly help with my saves, but I think I was even more important at half time. But I knew I had to be important today.”
In the dressing room, Club was indeed ready for a recharge. “Mentally it was not easy during the break. I had to get everyone together because we didn’t win a single duel. You can’t win against Antwerp if you always lose the first game. But in the end we answered well in the second half.”
Like many other players, Mignolet celebrates the third title in a row with blue-black, but the hunger of the final piece has not yet been quenched. “At Club, the cup is still missing from my record. But let’s enjoy this title first. It’s the first title that we can really celebrate with the fans. The first we had to celebrate from our seats and the second there was no audience.
