The Oviedo squad returned to Asturias this morning after yesterday’s defeat against Las Palmas, which has knocked the Blues out of the play-off positions with one league game remaining. Oviedo must beat Ibiza and wait for the defeat of Girona or Las Palmas, who play against Burgos and Sporting.

The Carbayona squad returned on a regular flight from Las Palmas and landed in Asturias around 12:45. Long faces and serious gestures were the general tone after a defeat that has left the expedition’s spirits very shaken. Ziganda said after the match that they must face the match against Ibiza as a final and that all is not yet lost.

The players received the encouragement of a score of fans upon arrival at the airport. “It’s still possible,” several fans told the players, who kindly took pictures with them and signed some autographs.
