Jürgen Klopp’s squad lost 0-1 to El Real in the top party of the 2021/2022 Champions League, Sunday (30/5) early morning WIB. The Reds again lost to the same opponent as in the 2018 final.
The defeat added to Liverpool’s pain, which at one point in this season had the hope of embracing a quadruple aka four championship titles. In the end, only two were won and the other two escaped our grasp — the Premier League and the Champions League.
“The dressing room was very quiet, (we were all) devastated. That’s what happens when you don’t win the final,” Liverpool defender Andy Robertson told BT Sport.
“We had some chances, (but) lost against an extraordinary goalkeeper. To be honest, we could have done better. In the second half we didn’t start well and they were in control of the game.”
With football commonly giving rise to banter or mockery between supporters, Liverpool’s latest grief has also made fans of rival teams able to joke around. One of them uses a face filter in a viral post on social media.
