Six women and two men started in the Liepāja team, who were prepared for the competition by three coaches: Annija Jurgute, Māris Š veiduks and Juris Dambītis. More than 50 athletes from Latvia and Lithuania took part in the championship.
The judges recognized Jūlija Protasova from Liepaja as the winner of the 1st place and the absolute winner, Anastasija Mihaļova won in the fitness model category, and Sanda Pelnēna won the 1st place in the women’s fitness category. So, in all categories of women, women from Liepaja were recognized as the best.
3rd place in the fitness model category for Ginta Ekanajaka. This athlete stands out especially. Ginta is 54 years old, and in her time – in 1996 – she won the title of champion in the fitness figure class at the first fitness championship in Latvia.
Mārtiņš Baranovskis won a silver medal in classic bodybuilding, and Artūrs Rikmanis won a bronze medal in the fitness category for men.
The owner of the Sports Club “Gym Lāčplēsis” and the President of the NABBA Latvia Federation Māris Š Veiduks was really pleased that the club “Gym Lāčplēsis” won the 1st place in the competition of fitness clubs in this competition, competing with 10 other clubs of both countries.
Coach Annija Jurgute prepared four participants for the open championship and said after the competition: “I am very happy with their achievements, willpower and ability to work in the preparation phase.
It is a very short time for the participants to be on stage during the competition, but to get in the best shape, you have to work patiently and resolutely for months.
I am really proud of my students! ”
The day after the open championship in Lithuania, the 2022 “NAC Latvian Open Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship” took place in Salaspils, Lithuania. At the club “Olymp Sports Liepāja” athlete Jūlija Protasova won the 1st place in the “Miss Bikini-Shape” category.
At the end of the competition, in the fight for the title of the absolute champion of Latvia, Jūlija again proved to be superior to all competitors, and she was recognized as the absolute champion of Latvia in 2022.
Not long ago, a major American Federation competition “2022 NPC Worldwide Power of the Knight” took place in Kaunas, where Iveta Lunte from Liepāja Sports Club “Royal fitness” started in the category “Miss Bikini”. The competition in this category was the biggest, and unfortunately Iveta was not in the top five.
As the coach and a member of the board of the sports association “NAC Latvia-Kurzeme” Juris Dambītis emphasized, these starts required a lot of strength, time and support from fellow people from Liepaja. Therefore, the athletes would like to thank everyone who supported them, sympathized with the progress of the competition and rejoiced at the results.
