After missing direct promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, head coach Marco Antwerpen (50) was released. His assistant coach Frank Döpper also has to go.
According to BILD information, sports boss Thomas Hengen (47) informed Antwerp on the phone on Tuesday afternoon that he was out. The coach will only say goodbye to the team on Wednesday because there was no training on Tuesday.

With this, Hengen wins the power struggle at Betzenberg. The relationship between Antwerp and Hengen had been more than tense for weeks.
Dirk Schuster (54) will be the new coach at Betzenberg. With Darmstadt 98 he made it from the 3rd league to the 1st Bundesliga. Schuster is also bringing his assistant coach Sascha Franz with him.
