Inter shivers, trembles, but triumphs against Udinese. A much-needed victory for the runner-up in Serie A. The 1-2 victory means Perisic and co continue in the footsteps of leader AC Milan. The Scudetto is still within reach.

There wasn’t much at stake for Udinese today. Yet it could still play a (supporting) role in the title fight against Inter. If the visitors dropped points against Udinese, they threatened to tumble out of the Italian title race.

There was a lot at stake for Inter, but it didn’t jump out of the starting blocks. After just 12 minutes, ex-Bruggeland Ivan Perisic headed the visitors – in his 250th game for Inter – ahead.

Inter dominated before halftime, and ended the first half with another goal. Lautaro Martinez did a one-two with the post from the penalty spot, only to slide the leather into the net.

The game seemed to die a quiet death after the break. Until Gerard Deulofeu once again behind a free kick.

The Spaniard painted the ball over the wall, but saw Handanović parry the place ball. Fortunately for Udinese, Pussetto was able to tap in in the second instance.

Internazionale then shivered for another fifteen minutes, but still managed to pull the much-needed victory over the line. The runner-up in Serie A thus remains in the race for the Scudetto. They are two points behind arch-rival AC Milan – with three games to go.
