In Badminton, the UASLP adds four bronze medals

* In the mixed doubles activity, the duo made up of Diego Morales and Daniela Gómez qualified for the semifinals by finishing in second place

The badminton representatives of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí had a bronze day at the National Universiade organized by the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez.

In total there were four medals won by the representatives of the Eagles; mixed doubles, two medals; women’s doubles and men’s singles.

Saúl Solís after adding victories against Santiago Loza from UAMN, Carlos Covarrubias from UAMSYAB, and against Cristopher Varela from UACANCUN; he fell in the semifinals to the event’s number one seed, Luis Montoya of the University of Guadalajara, with splits of 21/13 and 21/5.

In the mixed doubles activity, the duo made up of Diego Morales and Daniela Gómez qualified for the semifinals by finishing second in group A, where they defeated the representatives of the University of Guadalajara, Héctor Franco and Natalia Serna; to the couple from the UAEM, Marco Mora and Ana Montero; losing to the number one couple, made up of Sebastián Martínez and Romina Fragoso, also from the U de G. In the semifinals they fell to the representatives of the UANL.

In group B, the duo made up of Saúl Solís and Carmina Hernández advanced to the semifinals by defeating the local representatives of the UACJ, Jorge Armendariz and Lizbeth Molina; Ángel Benítez and Andrea Rodríguez from U de G, losing to the second seeds of the event, Francisco Treviño and Valeria Ornelas from UANL. In the semifinals, they fell to the representatives of the U de G, Sebastián Martínez and Romina Fragoso, who in the end would be the champions of the event.

In the women’s doubles, the couple made up of Daniela Gómez and Carmina Hernández, advanced undefeated by defeating the representatives of the UABC, UNAM and UAA. In the semifinal they fell to the representatives of the U de G, Romina Fragoso and Natalia Serna with partial scores of 21/11 and 21/8.

Carmina Hernández is a student at the Faculty of Sciences and Humanities, in the degree in History, she won two bronze medals in women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

Daniela Gómez is studying Bioprocess Engineering at the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and won two bronze medals in women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

Saúl Solís, a student at the Faculty of Sciences where he is studying Biology, returns home with two bronze medals in singles and mixed doubles.

Diego Morales is a student of the Faculty of Nursing and Nutrition, aspiring to the Master of Public Health, he obtained a bronze medal in mixed doubles.
