The Polish garnered the eighth title of her sports career and the fifth of the season to add the 28th consecutive win. Except for Madrid, which did not play it, all the other tournaments in the WTA 1000 category have been for her. A week before she starts Roland Garros, Swiatek is positioned as the top candidate without a doubt.

The No.1 was facing a tennis player who was also on a roll having won the Madrid tournament and we could be talking about the two most fit players in recent weeks. Therefore, a priori, one of the best matches currently on the women’s circuit could be expected. Swiatek, for her part, was able to get the roller out from the start. Like yesterday in the semifinals, she came out much more dedicated and it did not happen like the tough first sets she played against Azarenka and Andreescu where they were in danger.

The first is for the Polish

It quickly went to 0-3 with Ons wanting to play her best game, but she had an opponent with great intensity from the back of the court, and she, especially with the backhand, was somewhat erratic. Even so, she was able to add the first game and that gave her morale, stopping the streak that she had up to that moment Swiatek to add 15 games in a row in the Rom finalssince last year she put a double 6-0 to Karolina Pliskova.

She was able to raise the tennis level with Jabeur opting for changes of rhythm and trying to avoid that rhythm that the Polish tennis player provokes but when she had options to attack her opponent’s defense she was praiseworthy. However, another break came for the No.1 in the WTA ranking and she managed to close the first round knowing how to raise her solvent game capacity in the opportune moments that took on a special tension.

Swiatek overcomes iffy moments to win

The second set opened for Iga. The electronic was enough punishment for the Tunisian since it was not that her rival was going over her but if in the transcendent moments they fell for the queen of the circuit. She stood with two breaks but Jabeur did not succumb to the fight with her mind not wanting to leave the date. She served an important return game and confirmed it with his serve and then Swiatek spiraled into quite a few unforced errors, quite under pressure.

The Tunisian had the ball to hook into the match at 2-4, 0-40 showing better feelings, but the Pole showed an arsenal of how to keep a cool head and got three winners that took her to the deuce. Immediately afterwards, another break ball arrived that Iga saved while he went through moments of doubts where the first double fault arrived. He solved it and ran with 2-5 and remainder to win. Swiatek went for it and when the first match point was in his grasp he ended up defeating Jabeur in the WTA 1000 final in Rome. The World No.1 ended the match in tears.
