”I think that Feyenoord in particular has been sleeping”

The name Jerdy Schouten was regularly mentioned in the media as a potential reinforcement for Feyenoord. The Bologna midfielder has now been called up for the Orange for the first time. Analyst Hans Kraay Jr. still thinks it is a shame that the Rotterdammers did not put any effort into Schouten at an earlier stage.

“He has really not played so remarkably differently in the last two months. He actually always plays well. I am therefore not shocked that he is there, because I think that Feyenoord in particular has been sleeping. They had him a mile away, on on the other side of the Maas, 31 matches can be followed at Excelsior. He was also very good then,” said Kraay in front of the camera of Espn.

“He is a boy with whom you can play football very quickly. There are few players or controllers that you can play in the cover. With Sneijder and Van der Vaart you could play football while they were covered, he has that too. Now I don’t want to say that he will have such a career, but you always get to play football. He can easily handle any situation.” Schouten could have been acquired from Excelsior in 2019 for two million euros.
