Golden State Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins doubtful for Game 3 against the Mavericks

Andrew Wiggins is in question for Game 3 against the Dallas Mavericks. The forward is struggling with left ankle problems and has been listed on the NBA’s Injury Report.

Wiggins apparently picked up the injury in Game 2 when he landed unluckily after a throw attempt. The Warriors are still optimistic and expect the Canadian to play.

“I expect him to play,” said coach Steve Kerr on Saturday night. “It’s just standard procedure, if someone has an injury you have to report it. Technically he’s questionable but we expect him to play.”

Wiggins has averaged 17.5 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the series against the Mavericks so far and is Luka Doncic’s primary defender. Especially in Game 1, he made life difficult for the Mavs star.

When asked about the 27-year-old’s defense at the start of the Western Conference Finals, Stephen Curry said: “He’s showing everyone what he’s capable of and what a big part he has in our victories. In the last series he showed that he’s ready for that moment and he improved in Game 1. I’m happy for him because after eight years in the league this is his moment.”
