Gerrard wants Aston Villa to be fierce against Man City

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Aston Villa coach Steven Gerrard declared his team will perform at the end of the season in the two remaining duels against Burnley and Manchester City.

Aston Villa are in a unique position ahead of their last two matches in the Premier League. Aston Villa will face Burnley who are fighting to avoid relegation and Man City who are hunting for the Premier League trophy.

Gerrard also stressed that the two Premier League duels are very important for Aston Villa and they will not play with it.

“It’s probably true from their point of view that we are no longer involved in a fight to avoid relegation or the title race.”

“But I’m the coach of Aston Villa and I think these two games are important games to get the three points. We’ll have a full stadium [untuk laga kandang lawan Burnley] and 20 thousand viewers are waiting on the waiting list to see us. It’s my responsibility to win these two games,” Gerrard said as quoted by the Mirror.

According to Gerrard, there is still a target that can be achieved by Aston Villa, namely improving their position in the final standings of the Premier League. Aston Villa are currently in 14th position with 44 points, four points away from Leicester City who are in ninth position.

“The important thing for us is to focus on ourselves and aim to finish as high as possible with the two positive results we can get. We will try and try to improve our position in the league,” said Gerrard.

Gerrard even asked all the players to prepare to appear in the two matches because of the close distance of the match so that there might be a fatigue factor to be faced.

“These two games will of course present different challenges. We have to prepare for the two games as best we can in such a short space of time.”

“All players have to be ready,” said the Liverpool legend.
