The German men’s hockey team celebrated a successful victory in the World Cup on Sunday. Germany defeated Kazakhstan in Helsinki in Group A 5: 4 (3: 2, 1: 1, 1: 1), which is still without points in this championship.

In the first period, Jonas Miller and Leo Federl quickly responded to the goals scored by Roman Starchenko and Yegor Petukhov with accurate shots. One and a half minutes before the end of the period, Daniel Fischuhch was 3: 2 in favor of the Germans.

In the sixth minute of the second period, Lucas Raihels strengthened the lead in the majority, but in the last minute of the third and in the first minute of the next cut, Pavel Akolzin and Nikita Mikhail scored 4: 4. The last word in this match belonged to Jasin Ellis, who scored the winning goal for the Germans in the eighth minute of the third period.

In the Helsinki group, Switzerland has 15 points after five rounds, Germany has 15 points in six matches, and Canada has scored 12 points in five battles. Denmark has nine points in five battles and Slovakia six points. France has scored five points, Italy has one point in six battles, but Kazakhstan is still in it.

The 16 teams participating in the tournament are divided into two groups, eight units each, which guarantees seven games for each team in the subgroup competition. After one round of group matches, the four best teams in each subgroup will continue to fight for medals in the quarterfinals, while the weakest teams in the tournament will leave the strongest division last year, with Slovenia and Hungary in the top 16 next year. The 2022 World Championships in Finland will run until May 29.
