Wielaert (69) has been head of scouting since 2016. In various periods before that he was a youth player and contract player. After his playing career, he was also a youth coach, head of scouting and technical manager. In total, Wielaert has been associated with Willem II for about 30 years.

30 years William II
Wielaert: ‘For almost thirty years, Willem II has been an important part of my life every day. Of course also in the years that I was not directly associated with Willem II. I have now reached an age and point in my life, where I want to focus on other things as well. In all those years I have experienced highs, but also lesser periods, up close. I have been to Europe four out of five times with Willem II and we have also reached the cup final twice. In addition, I have seen many great players playing in red, white and blue. Those are memories that I will always cherish as a Willem II’er. I will stop as head of scouting, but of course I will continue to follow the club closely as a supporter.’

‘I want to thank everyone I have worked with over the years for all the beautiful moments, the mutual respect and the hard work to make continuous progress with Willem II. For now, I assume that we will turn the tide and keep this beautiful club for the Eredivisie in the anniversary season. Because that’s where Willem II belongs.’
