France team: Deschamps is not afraid of tensions between Mbappé and Benzema, expected Monday evening

Immediately open, immediately extinguished? The “tension” that could disrupt the reunion between Kylian Mbappé and Karim Benzema in the France team will not take place according to Didier Deschamps. After the Parisian’s decision to stay at PSG, the Madrilenian seemed to resent him after posting a photo with an ambiguous meaning on social networks. But, for the coach, no worries in sight.

“Everyone has their interpretations, he starts this Saturday at a press conference in Clairefontaine. From my position as coach, I have the players live and I know what is going on. My priority is group unity. There may be misunderstandings. We can all draw conclusions. But in most situations, that doesn’t reflect reality. With the world connected, everything can go very quickly. The slightest sentence, the slightest photo and it goes away very quickly. »

The handshake between Mbappé and Benzema, whose agreement in Blue is well established, will take place Monday evening at the National Football Center in Yvelines. Regardless of the result of the Champions League final on Saturday evening, the Real striker has two days off to digest this very long season. “It’s better if he can come with a European Cup,” smiles Deschamps, a visible supporter of the Blues striker.

Double training Sunday

The 23 players already present will watch the Liverpool-Real clash partly from one of the Clairefontaine lounges. “We didn’t organize anything special. We’ll watch it together. But everyone will do what they want, ”says the coach, in the direction of some players who would prefer to settle in their room.

The beginnings of the rally are light for the Blues, with an oxygenation session scheduled for the end of the afternoon this Saturday (a mountain bike outing) but no training. On the other hand, the coach of the world champions warned: Sunday, it will be a double session. “They will be delighted,” he laughed in front of the press. One in the morning, one in the late afternoon. In the meantime, two players will speak at a press conference.

The tricolor selection will remain at Clairefontaine until Wednesday inclusive. It will then settle from June 2 to 4 in Enghien-les-Bains (Val-d’Oise) for the first match against Denmark at the Stade de France on Friday June 3. She will then fly on Sunday June 5 to Split in Croatia, where she will face Luka Modric’s team on June 6.
