Four football clubs vandalized at the start of the week: “It’s the work of a whole season that is wasted”

Four football clubs in Fleurus, Gosselies and Ligny were vandalized earlier this week. The burglars ransacked everything and left with computer and electronic equipment. A blow for these small amateur clubs.

They came in this way, they broke the window and came out through another window“, details Steve Decaux, the president of the White Star Athletic Club Fleurus.

Once inside, the individuals returned everything, before taking what interested them. “Once inside, they opened a cupboard where there is a padlock and they took everything, including a PC which is mandatory to be able to fill in the match sheets.

The thieves then entered the office of the president of the club, they emptied and reversed all the cupboards before taking away a bicycle, an arbor and sound equipment. “The bike is unfortunately a kid who had come with it in training, but it was too dark for him to leave so I had suggested that he leave it in the office. Unfortunately, we took him. The sound system was there to animate the tournaments, because it is the full period…“, deplores this leader.

A blow for the club, especially since it’s the 4th time it’s happened since 2018. “It’s the work of a whole season that is wasted because of that. we’ll have to rework properly. For people, it’s nonsense, but for us, it’s very important.

The same scene a little further, in Gosselies

In Gosselies, a club was also the victim of vandalism earlier this week. “They took cans, they stole the President’s PC, but otherwise nothing else in particular, yet there were a few envelopes they could have taken, even a rather expensive pair of glasses“, explains Pino Amico, youth manager at Royal Gosselies Sports. Despite everything, this will generate costs which the club would have done well.

It was an old PC, but we left it here to do secretarial work. So we will have to buy a new one which will necessarily be brand new. We will also have to put cameras and take care of the door“.

In total, on the night of Monday to Tuesday, four clubs were vandalized.
