Savoie back in the professional world. After many years of navigating through the regional and then national divisions, FC Annecy will return to Ligue 2, 29 years after leaving it during the 1992-1993 season. An event for the Haut-Savoyard club, heir to Evian Thonon Gaillard (passed through Ligue 1 between 2011 and 2015 but returned to regional in 2017), which materialized thanks to a victory on the last day of National , Friday, against Sedan (2-0).

Carried by more than 13,000 people at the Annecy Sports Park, the Annecy residents were able to rely on the double of their star player, the former Niçois Alexy Bosetti, to materialize this ambition of ascent. With a saving goal after playing defenders in the 78th minute, he made the whole stadium roar before driving the point home, four minutes later, by converting a penalty he had himself obtained. “It’s so hard, the season is so long. I can’t explain what happened, it’s unbelievable”reacted, moved, the hero of the evening at the microphone of Canal +.

Returning to the eighth division in 1993 after sporting relegation to N1, the Alpine club took time to regain the heights. In 2015, FC Annecy – which regained its name in 2013 – began his return by finding the National 3, after a long purgatory at the regional level.

A championship that they won directly before stagnating, from 2016 to 2019, in National 2. In 2020, the Annecy people ended up reaching the third division. Maintained narrowly during the 2020-2021 season, Annecy has crossed the milestone hoped for this season to climb to Ligue 2 with Laval, already guaranteed to be champion before this last day. Third, Villefranche-Beaujolais will play the play-off against the 18th in Ligue 2. At the bottom of the classification, Créteil, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Chambly and Bastia-Borgo are relegated to N2.
