Farewell in style: Chiellini waves goodbye to Juventus with a substitution in a symbolic minute Serie A TIM 2021/2022

Chiellini has defended Juventus’ colors since 2005 and has won 19 trophies with the club, including 9 league titles and 5 Coppa Italia.

The club icon was therefore given an appropriate farewell in the Juventus Stadium against Lazio. In the symbolic 17th minute he was substituted after 17 years of service.

It is not clear whether Chiellini will also end his career. The 37-year-old defender would hesitate between a last adventure (in the MLS?) or a board position at Juve. “I have to see what the best choice is,” he said.

Chiellini did admit that Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup has “accelerated” his choice to retire from Juventus and the national team. “I wanted to end this period with a highlight at the World Cup, but that didn’t go as expected,” he said.

Paulo Dybala has also played his last game for Juventus. The Argentinian did not receive a contract extension in Turin and is looking for other places after 7 seasons.

28-year-old Dybala helped Juventus win 12 trophies. “I assumed we would spend many more years together, but fate leads us in other ways,” Dybala wrote on Instagram.
