Everton secured their Premier League title last night. After the final whistle, many fans took to the field to celebrate, while Patrick Vieira was still on his way to the dressing room.
An Everton supporter challenged the former French international and was beaten. Vieira reacted by kicking the fan, some other fans intervened to prevent worse.
The Crystal Palace coach refused to comment on the incident afterwards, but his Everton colleague Frank Lampard did. “I feel sorry for Patrick. He had to run more than 70 meters across the field, not easy,” said Lampard, who also didn’t seem to care too much about the supporters storming the field.
“If it’s done right, it can be done. As long as they behave, there’s no problem. We can’t tie them to their seats.”
