DAccording to information from the German Press Agency, the person who was revived shortly before the award ceremony at the DFB Cup final had a work card for the final. It was not a spectator, it said on Sunday from the German Football Association (DFB).
Before the award ceremony, there was a medical emergency on the edge of the field at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. A man near the photographer’s stand had to be treated on the sidelines by rescue workers. According to “Bild”, it should be a 48-year-old who works for a company commissioned by the DFB.
Heart attack as a result of an epileptic seizure
According to the Berlin fire department late Saturday evening, the person was successfully resuscitated. Brown blankets were hastily fetched as privacy screens. Eerie silence reigned in the stadium. While the doctors fought for the man’s life, the stadium announcer made an announcement: “There has been a medical emergency. That is why, out of respect, we are postponing the award ceremony indefinitely.”
At 11:16 p.m. there was a slight all-clear: the stadium announcer announced that the man was stable. There was thunderous applause, and a little later the ambulance left the stadium through the marathon gate in the direction of the hospital.
According to the report, the man suffered a heart attack as a result of an epileptic seizure. On Sunday he was still in the intensive care unit of a Berlin clinic. But given the circumstances, he is doing well.
