Draymond Green: ‘Thank God I didn’t do that’

Always very vocal, Draymond Green is not the type to leak certain inappropriate statements about him. Following the latest controversy around him, he notably explained that he absolutely did not regret a decision he had made… and tackling his current detractor at the same time.

With his exuberant behavior and incessant trash-talking, Draymond Green is a divisive case across the league. The Warriors player is hated by part of the community, and his rating did not rise with her after his obscene gesture against the Grizzlies. Some even went so far as to ask him to stop talking, such as journalist Chris Russo who resorted to the half-word phrase “shut up and play” about him.

However, his remarks did not go over well with the peers of the Dancing Bear, a former adversary flying notably to his aid in stride. The 2017 DPOY also went into detail on the subject, during its own podcast. Without lapsing into brutal wordiness, he did not go out of his way vis-à-vis the analyst, questioning his power of influence and recalling that athletes are free to express themselves as they wish on the floors:

Draymond blasts Chris Russo after his controversial remarks

He goes on TV and says America is tired of Draymond Green. I don’t know what gives him the right to speak on behalf of America, what he has done in his life for her. I’m not sure who he’s become in sports or in the media to say how America feels and what gives him that right. The days of shutting up and just playing are long gone. It has no place here and will not be tolerated.

This is what is said on the part of the three-time NBA champion, who refuses to give in to the pressure of certain observers with more conservative views on the behavior of athletes. Dray did not stop there, however, wanting to make Russo understand something: if the latter is currently stationed on ESPN, it’s because the player didn’t want to work for the channel. Indeed, the latter had offered him the job of “Mad Dog” beforehand:

Thank God I didn’t want his work, I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Before signing with TNT, I was offered a spot on First Take. I refused, and it was Russo who was subsequently chosen. When I speak I speak from my heart, when I speak know that it is real and thoughtful. More importantly, it’s the truth. Something he doesn’t like.

Draymond Green has damn shot Chris Russo following his remarks not far from being scandalous, while giving him a humiliating little spanking as a bonus. Indeed, it is only thanks to the Danding Bear that the analyst can now express himself on ESPN !
