The eighth day of the III South American Youth Games marked the delivery of the final medals of combat sports: karate and judo, plus the start of the futsal competition, which registered the triumphs of Colombia, the host Argentina and Brazil.
In the last categories of judo in Pavilion B of La Rural, Brazil monopolized the four golds in disputes with the conquests of the titles by Bianca Bernardo Reis Sosa (up to 63 kg female), Matheus Guimaraes de Abreu (up to 81 kg male ), Mari Hayse Lys (female up to 78 kg) and Jesse James Gonçalves Barbosa (male up to 100 kg).
The rest of the medals marked two silver medals for Ecuador and one for Peru and Colombia, while the bronze medals corresponded to Venezuela (3), Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Argentina.
In karate, meanwhile, in Pavilion A of La Rural, Sol Adriana Sandoval Duarte won the first gold for the Bolivian delegation by winning the final against the Brazilian Leticia De Almeida Redondo Kato in the women’s category up to 53 kg, while the Brazilian Juan Pablo De Castro Rodrigues won the title in the men’s category up to 61 kg after winning the final match against Peruvian Hermes Moreno.
The last karate bronzes belonged to the Venezuelan Ana Vasquez and the Ecuadorian Karen Yamilet Apolo Salinas and the Argentine Juan Ignacio Gallardo and the Venezuelan Nelson Meneses.
Finally, on the first day of futsal, for Group A Colombia defeated Curaçao 3-2 and Argentina beat Paraguay by the same score; Meanwhile, in Zone B, Brazil thrashed Bolivia 6-1 in the activities carried out at the Provincial Futsal Stadium in Rosario.
