Chelsea: the takeover is approved by the Premier League! – All football

The transaction amounts to 4.25 billion pounds sterling.

The Premier League has approved the takeover of Chelsea, a deal estimated at £4.25 billion, following the consortium led by Todd Boehly, co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball franchise.

The Premier League club had been put up for sale before owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned over his links to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The purchase remains subject to the issuance of the sales license by the government, but the final stages of the transaction should be carried out as explained by the BBC, which also specifies that the English government does not want Abramovich to draw any profit from the sale.

Several parties had expressed interest, but in the end it was the consortium led by Boehly that won the day. Other investors include US billionaire Mark Walter, also co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Swiss billionaire Hansjoerg Wyss.
