Il Chelsea has a new owner: the club has announced that the agreement has been reached for the passage from the Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich to the consortium led by Todd Boehly and which includes, among others, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss.
The operation closed for about 5 billion euros in total: 3 billion euros (amount that will be donated to charity by Abramovich) correspond to the estimated value of the club, to which must be added the two billion investments that the new owners have committed to invest between the stadium, the men’s and women’s teams and the structures of the company. The declared goal is to continue the goals achieved by the Russian tycoon

Todd L. Boehly is co-founder, president and CEO of Eldridge, a Connecticut-based investment fund.
The “captain” of the consortium is also a 20% shareholder Los Angeles Dodgers (baseball team that plays in the US top league, the MLB). Not only that: he is also co-owner of the Los Angeles Sparks (women’s basketball team).
In 2021, together with a partner, he acquired a 27% stake in the Los Angeles Lakersmen’s baket team that plays in the NBA and where, among others, the legendary one plays LeBron James.
The other members of the consortium that bought Chelsea are Hansjorg WyssSwiss billionaire, the investment company, the Clearlake Capital Group, e Mark Walter, US entrepreneur and CEO of Guggenheim Partners.
