Champions League: It was scary yesterday outside St-Denis… and the Games are in 2024

Journalists, fans… and relatives of the players. We all saw it at the exit of the stadium, and it can’t be! We are scared. The situation was tense and, thanks to the euphoria of victory, it could have been more bearable. But this cannot be allowed at the end of a Champions League final. Then, they complain about other countries in the world. No, this happened yesterday in Paris, Europe.

We leave the stadium an hour and a half after the end of the game. It was 01:00 in the morning and there were many people around. Lots of people… and lots of crooks. Small groups of young people who scavenged with what they could. This journalist, on his way out of the subway, saw a few arrests. Young kids, in tracksuits, with caps, and with no good intentions.

It is obvious that in Paris, for a few years, there has been a serious problem of immigration, of local social roots, of French people, of ghettos. Let’s not stay with the first. It fully affects French society. And not having a structured country sets off alarm bells ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. France is a wonderful state; Paris is among the top five cities in the world… and you can’t afford to be scared out of St. Denis.

Irene Junquera recounts the chaos and fear at the exit of the stadium: “There were people waiting to steal”Instagram / @irenejunquera

The stadium is located in the north of the city, in a district that has become unsafe and the French authorities must correct that, but not for the good of the Games. For the good of the country.

The young groups, meanwhile, tried to ‘fish’ yesterday where they could: wallets, mobiles… This was aggravated in the ‘mousetrap’ that is the stadium, with a mandatory bridge that makes its access a funnel. This journalist took two hours to reach his home. 02.30 in the morning. And the great darkness that ‘illuminated’ the surroundings of the stadium did not help either.

That… not to mention the serious problems that there were in the access of the English fans -many were scared-. The ‘reds’ came to complain to the MARCA.COM camera about the disaster that access was causing, since the Police blocked their entrance with artificial ‘walls’. Dangerous.

An organizational disaster that the players paid for (game started late)the fans paid and the inhabitants of this beautiful city pay.
