Caris LeVert could extend her contract with Cleveland for 20 million annually

Still under contract with the Cavaliers, but several league executives point to possible interest in extending Caris LeVert’s contract beyond 2023.

The figures point to between 19 and 20.5 million dollars per season, as long as it is a new short-term commitment due to his extensive history with injuries.

Michael Scotto, of the middle Hoopshype, commented on his future: “An NBA executive told me: I think LeVert will receive around 20.5 million dollars per season. That’s too much for me, but maybe Cleveland can offer him that if he wants to re-sign him.”

Another executive added the following to the aforementioned journalist: «Caris (LeVert) is very interesting due to his history with injuries. A short-term extension around the numbers being talked about could be a good deal for both.”

LeVert, who was traded via the Indiana Pacers, will enter the final year of his guaranteed contract valued at $18.79 million. His future remains uncertain in Cleveland, as there is also talk of the possible renewal of Colin Sexton, and the return of Ricky Rubio once his respective commitment to Indiana ends. But will there be room for everyone? It’s unlikely. The board will have to decide which asset is considered best for the needs of the team.

love’s future

Kevin Love has become an indispensable piece for JB Bickerstaff in this last campaign. The veteran player always entered all the transfer rumors; however, his new role as Sixth Man and his excellent performance make him a very important piece both inside and outside the locker room.

The power forward trained at UCLA has had a very positive influence on the development of young stars, such as Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley and, above all, Darius Garland. The point guard has hit it off with Love, and is considered his main support in the Ohio locker room.

“Without being asked, Garland has gotten very close to Love in the last two years and refers to him as a future Hall of Fame. That’s the kind of reputation he has with the Cavaliers and they refer to him as ‘Grandpa Kev,'” said journalist Chris Fedor.

Love will also enter the last year of his contract valued at almost 29 million dollars, and although they have him, sources close to the franchise do not rule out a future exit to get other coveted pieces through sign & trade. Rumors point to Zach LaVine, Donovan Mitchell and even Tobias Harris as possible targets.
