The Viajes InterRías Trophy already has winners. 24 boats of nine nationalities have once again unfurled sails this Sunday in Sanxenxo to dispute the last day of competition of the third scoring event of the 6 Meter Spanish Cup. The fleet has been able to complete a new sleeve this Sunday after which Bribon 500 and Stella have been confirmed as winners of the test that has been held throughout the weekend in Sanxenxo (Pontevedra).

The day has dawned with changing conditions, intermittent rains and a cloudy sky that from midday has let the sun’s rays through.

At 11:00 a.m. sharp, the signal sounded on land announcing to the fleet that it was time to drop the moorings and head for the regatta field.

After waiting in the water for the wind conditions to settle down, it was finally around 2:00 p.m. when the Regatta Committee was able to honk the start for a final race that was held in front of the club’s facilities and with about eight knots of wind intensity.

In the Open division, Dieter Schoen’s Momo was the fastest in the fleet and managed to score a great partial victory, improving the two fourth places signed on Friday and managing to climb to second place overall behind the great winner of the Trophy Viajes InterRías, Violeta Álvarez’s Stella, who with a second in the third and last round secured the victory with a five-point advantage.

The third classified of the Open general was, for his part, John Harald’s Scoundrel One.

In the Classics division, Pedro Campos’ Bribon 500, which had King Juan Carlos at the helm this Sunday, added fourth place with which he was able to secure victory in the regatta with a two-point advantage over Titia de Mauricio Sanchez-Bella. The boat built by Alicia Freire scored the victory this Sunday, a result with which she was able to move up one place in the general classification, overtaking Íñigo Echenique’s Caprice, which was finally third.

Both Bribon 500 and Stella are also the leaders of the 6m Spanish Cup circuit overall.

Pedro Campos, president of the RCNS, stated at the end of the regatta that “We are delighted by the success of the call for this Viajes InterRías Trophy, the last round of the Spanish Cup before the World Championship. The huge fleet, especially foreign teams, has helped us to do a dress rehearsal so that everything turns out as well as possible at this year’s great Spanish sailing event, which will be the Xacobeo 6mR Worlds from the 10th to the 18th of next month. of June. The next appointment of the 6 Meters class in Sanxenxo waters will be next month. First, with the dispute from June 10 to 12 of the 7th Regatta Rey Juan Carlos – El Corte Inglés Master, fourth round of the Spanish Cup circuit, and then, from 13 to 18, the World Championship, the most important part of the calendar with 40 boats from 12 countries already registered.
