Billie Jean King will be celebrated at Roland-Garros

A true tennis legend, with 129 singles titles won in her career, Billie Jean King will be celebrated on Thursday at Roland-Garros. Ten minutes before the first ladies’ semi-final, on the Philippe-Chatrier court, a ceremony in her honor will salute “his immense career and his actions on and off the court”, 50 years after his victory in Paris, specifies the FFT.

But that’s not all. Twenty minutes after the semi-finals, the giant screens of the Suzanne-Lenglen court will broadcast the film “The Battle of the Sexes”, which retraces the story of his match against Bobby Riggs in 1973 in Houston, in front of 30,000 people.

On Friday, she will also be received at the Élysée by Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, to receive the Legion of Honor.
