Basketball – BBL: Master Alba puts pressure on Bonn

Berlin (SID) – Champion and cup winner Alba Berlin has clinched its ninth consecutive victory in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and remains on the heels of leaders Telekom Baskets Bonn. The capital city clearly defeated the MLP Academics Heidelberg 110:70 (51:34) on the last regular match day and with 50:12 points with three games to catch up they still have the chance to finish the main round as number one.

Bonn (52:14) is challenged on Sunday evening (8:30 p.m./Magenta Sport) at the Niners Chemnitz for the last time before the start of the play-off and then has to wait and see.

The former champion Fraport Skyliners, who has already been relegated, said goodbye to the Pro A with a success, the Frankfurt defeated medi Bayreuth 82:70 (48:39). Second relegated are the Jobstairs Giessen 46ers.

The MHP giants Ludwigsburg, who still have a game in hand, suffered a setback in the 86:102 (51:47) at EWE Baskets Oldenburg in the fight for a good starting position for the first play-off round. Chemnitz and ratiopharm Ulm are hot on the heels of the fourth-placed Swabians.

Due to numerous corona-related postponements during the course of the season, games in the main round will be made up until May 11th. Only then do the playoffs begin with the top eight teams of the regular season.
