Cologne (SID) – The MLP Academics Heidelberg from the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) have signed Joonas Iisalo (36) from the current table leader Telekom Baskets Bonn as the new head coach for the coming season. Thanks to his opt-out clause, the Finn has been promoted from assistant in Bonn to boss in Heidelberg.
“We have exceeded all expectations from outside and from ourselves,” said Iisalo about his time in Bonn, where he has been working together with his brother Tuomas (39), the head coach of the Baskets, since May 2021: “I’m looking forward to the new one A challenge, but right now my focus is 100 percent on ending this season as successfully as possible with the Baskets.”
