Baseball: the 2023 Caribe Series with eight participants

CARACAS – The Serie del Caribe, the Champions League of Baseball, in 2023 will be held in Venezuela and will have as scenarios the University stadium of Caracas and the Forum of Macuto. But, according to rumors, the big news will be that of the competing teams: in fact, from the next edition there will be 8, two more than in 2022. The news appeared on the “El extrabase” website.

The well-known site, specialized in Venezuelan “pelota” and its protagonists, has announced that in addition to the hosts on the diamond, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Panamá will compete with Cuba (it will be a return to this competition ) and Curazao.

The event will return to be held in the “Little Venice”, the last time dates back to 2014 in the Guatamare stadium on Margarita Island. Previously, Serie del Caribe hosted the cities of Caracas (1951, 1955, 1959, 1970, 1973, 1977, 1983 and 2002), Maracaibo (1986), Puerto La Cruz (1994 and 1998), Maracay-Valencia (2006) and Margarita (2010 and 2014).

Venezuela has won the Caribbean series on seven occasions: Navegantes del Magallanes (on due occasion), Águilas del Zulia (2), Leones del Caracas (2) and Tigres de Aragua (1).
