Good news for the finances of FC Barcelona. Loaned to Aston Villa this season, Philippe Coutinho (29 years old, 15 games and 4 goals in the Premier League this season) will be definitively transferred to the Villans, announces Mundo Deportivo.
The English club had negotiated a purchase option of 40 M€. But one year from the end of his contract, the attacking midfielder would be the subject of an operation between 15 and 20 M€. We are obviously far from the 120 M€ (+ 40 M€ bonus) wagered when he arrived in 2018. But the departure of the Brazilian will allow Barça to reduce its payroll.
For his part, manager Steven Gerrard will be delighted, he who hoped to keep Coutinho next season (see yesterday’s news at 10:26 p.m.).
