BAL 2022: Two new distinctions

The Basketball Africa League (BAL) has added two new honors to the awards this season. These are the trophies of BAL Coach of the Year » et « All-BAL defensive Team ».

These two trophies are in addition to the six (6) of the 2021 season: BAL Championship Trophy, Hakeem Olajuwon MVP Award, Dikembe Mutombo Defensive Player, Manute Bol Sportsmanship player, Scoring champion and All-BAL First Team.

In 2021, Zamalek from Egypt was crowned champion ahead of US Monastir from Tunisia. Two players from the Egyptian club, Walter Hodge and Anas Mahmoud won the MVP and best defender trophies. Terrel Stoglin finished top scorer for the season with an average of 30.1 pts per game.

The season 2 play-offs will be held from May 21 to 28 in Kigali. The posters for these quarter-finals are as follows: Petro Luanda- AS Salé, Rwanda Energy Group- Armed Forces and Police, US Monastir- Cape Town Tigers and Zamalek- Seydou Legacy Athlétique Club.
